Android, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto audio can be transmitted to the BMW sound system using either factory BMW Bluetooth Media / A2DP or the original BMW AUX audio path.

The preferred vehicle-audio source is selected in the Android screen settings.

If your BMW is equipped with factory Bluetooth Media / Bluetooth Audio, the screen can use Bluetooth to send audio to the original BMW sound system.

Factory Bluetooth calling alone is not sufficient. The vehicle must support factory Bluetooth media playback / A2DP for Bluetooth vehicle-audio output.

If your BMW does not have factory Bluetooth Media, select AUX as the screen's vehicle-audio output. Sound is then routed through the original BMW AUX audio path to the factory amplifier and speakers.

If your BMW has neither factory Bluetooth Media nor a functioning AUX source, contact us before ordering.

A functioning AUX source is not necessarily required if your BMW already has factory Bluetooth Media / A2DP audio playback.

In that case, Bluetooth Audio can be selected in the Android screen settings as the vehicle-audio output.

Factory Bluetooth calling alone does not count as Bluetooth Media. The BMW must support Bluetooth music / media playback from the factory.
