Premium Android 14 hardware with Snapdragon 680 and MediaTek MT8781 processor options, up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage — designed for BMW E90, E91, E92 and E93 models that left the factory without an original iDrive screen.
Vehicle Compatibility — E90 / E91 / E92 / E93 Without Factory Screen
This version is designed specifically for BMW E90, E91, E92 and E93 vehicles that were originally built without a factory BMW display and without factory iDrive.
If your BMW already has an original factory dashboard screen and iDrive system, this is not the correct version. Please choose one of our E9X screen upgrade listings designed specifically for vehicles with a factory BMW display.
Your BMW does not need factory iDrive for this upgrade. The new 10.25-inch display adds a complete standalone Android 14 touchscreen system to an E9X that originally had no dashboard screen.
Because these vehicles did not originally have a BMW iDrive display, this upgrade does not add an original BMW iDrive software interface or factory menu such as CCC or CIC.
Instead, the display operates as its own Android smart system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, apps, streaming, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G connectivity and supported vehicle integration.
Supplied center-console control knob
A dedicated iDrive-style rotary controller is supplied for additional physical control of the Android system.
On E90, E91 and E92, it can be installed into the compatible center-console recess.
The E93 Convertible has a different center-console shape, so the controller cannot be installed in the intended factory-style position.
This does not affect E93 screen compatibility. Android, CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation and apps remain fully controllable through the touchscreen.
Dashboard modification required
Vehicles without a factory display do not already have a dashboard opening for the new screen.
The upper dashboard must therefore be permanently cut using the supplied positioning template so the 10.25-inch screen housing can be securely installed.
Professional installation is strongly recommended.

Think of Gold and Platinum less like a basic aftermarket radio and more like installing a high-spec Android smart device directly into your BMW dashboard.
With 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage, the MT8781 configurations are designed for demanding multitasking, navigation, streaming, downloaded applications, compatible gaming and locally stored media.
Snapdragon performance stays strong even in Mid-Spec. Mid, Top and Max all use the same Snapdragon 680 processor. Moving upward primarily increases RAM and internal storage rather than replacing the processor with a different entry-level chip.

Audio Output
How does the screen send sound to your BMW?
BimmerBunny screens provide two selectable vehicle-audio output options: Bluetooth Audio or AUX. You choose the output source in the screen's factory settings.
Bluetooth output works when your BMW has factory Bluetooth Media / A2DP. Factory Bluetooth Call alone is not sufficient. If your BMW does not have Bluetooth Media, select AUX instead.
If the screen is working but you hear no sound, first check that the correct audio-output source is selected in the screen settings.
Important Compatibility Check
What if my BMW has no factory AUX or Bluetooth Media?
If your BMW has neither a functioning factory AUX input nor factory Bluetooth Media / A2DP — Bluetooth Call alone does not count — the standard screen setup has no supported path to send Android, CarPlay or Android Auto audio into the BMW sound system.
In this case, please contact BimmerBunny before ordering so we can check whether an alternative audio solution is available for your vehicle.
Which microphone is included?
Every configuration has a built-in screen microphone. Gold-Spec and Platinum-Spec additionally include an external microphone for customers who prefer a separate microphone position inside the vehicle.
Phone Calls
How does audio work during phone calls?
When using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, your voice is captured by the screen's built-in microphone or by a connected compatible external microphone. The original BMW microphone is not used for these calls.
The other person's voice is played through your BMW vehicle speakers using the active screen audio connection.
Original BMW Functions Retained
This upgrade is designed for E90, E91, E92 and E93 vehicles that originally left the factory without a dashboard screen and without factory iDrive.
Factory iDrive
Does it add an original BMW iDrive menu?
No. If your BMW left the factory without iDrive and without a dashboard display, there is no original BMW screen software for the retrofit to restore.
The upgrade instead adds its own Android 14 system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the vehicle.

How is the screen installed?

E93 Convertible
Does the supplied control knob fit the E93?
No. The E93 uses a different center-console shape, so the supplied controller cannot be installed in the intended console position.
This does not affect screen compatibility. The E93 remains fully controllable through the touchscreen.

What makes this BimmerBunny screen different?

Will this screen fit my BMW E90, E91, E92 or E93?
This version is specifically designed for compatible BMW E90, E91, E92 and E93 vehicles that left the factory without a dashboard screen / iDrive system.

Without Factory Screen
If your BMW already has a factory dashboard screen, choose one of our E9X screen listings designed for vehicles with a factory display.
Will this upgrade add an original BMW iDrive menu to my car?
No. If your BMW left the factory without iDrive, the new screen does not create an original BMW CCC or CIC system.
Instead, you receive a complete Android 14 touchscreen interface with CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, apps, media and additional vehicle-integration functions.
Your original BMW radio and other supported factory vehicle functions remain separate and continue to operate.
Does the dashboard need to be cut for installation?
Yes. Because your BMW did not originally have a dashboard screen, an opening must be cut into the upper dashboard so the new 10.25-inch screen housing can be installed.
A vehicle-specific positioning / cutting template is included.
Permanent interior modification
Cutting the dashboard permanently changes the original dashboard surface. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
Can I remove the screen later and return the car completely to factory condition?
The screen and wiring can be removed later, but the dashboard modification itself is not reversible.
Once the dashboard opening has been cut, returning the interior to its exact original appearance would require dashboard repair or replacement.
Is coding required?
No coding is normally required for the Android screen system.
The electrical connection package is designed for the compatible E9X vehicle platform, but mechanical dashboard modification is required to physically install the display.
Is a rotary control knob included?
Yes. An iDrive-style rotary controller is included with every configuration.
On compatible E90, E91 and E92 center consoles, it can be installed into the corresponding center-console recess.
E93 Convertible
The E93 uses a different center-console shape, so the supplied controller cannot be installed in the intended factory-style position.
The screen itself remains fully compatible. Android, CarPlay, Android Auto and apps can be operated directly through the touchscreen.
Which original BMW functions still work?
Supported original vehicle functions remain available, including:
- Original BMW radio
- Original amplifier and speakers
- Supported steering-wheel buttons
- Factory Bluetooth functions where originally equipped
- Original vehicle warning and control systems
Your BMW did not originally have an iDrive screen, so there is no original BMW screen menu to retain or switch back to.
Does it support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
Yes. All configurations support wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and wireless and wired Android Auto.
Navigation, music, calls, messages and compatible apps are displayed directly on the 10.25-inch touchscreen.
Can I install Android apps directly on the screen?
Yes. The display runs Android 14 and supports compatible Android applications.
This includes supported navigation, music, streaming, entertainment and utility apps.
Can I use navigation without my phone?
Yes. The screen has built-in GPS and can run compatible Android navigation apps independently.
Internet access can come from Wi-Fi, your phone hotspot or a compatible 4G LTE SIM card.
Can I use a SIM card directly in the screen?
Yes. All performance configurations support a compatible 4G LTE mobile-data SIM card.
The SIM card and mobile-data plan are not included. Network compatibility depends on your provider and region.
Does it support SD cards or USB drives?
Mid-Spec, Top-Spec and Max-Spec use Snapdragon 680 and support a compatible SD card.
Gold-Spec and Platinum-Spec use MediaTek MT8781 and provide 2 × USB connections for compatible media and data devices.
Can I use two apps at the same time?
Yes. All configurations support split-screen multitasking.
For example, compatible navigation and music apps can be displayed together.
Can I change the Android interface layout?
Yes. Available layouts depend on the selected performance configuration.
Mid-Spec, Top-Spec and Max-Spec: ID8-style interfaces plus Live Vehicle layouts.
Gold-Spec and Platinum-Spec: selectable ID5, ID6, ID7 and ID8-style layouts plus Live Vehicle display.
How does the screen play sound through my BMW?
Android, CarPlay and Android Auto audio can be routed through either BMW Bluetooth Media / A2DP or the original AUX audio path.
Factory Bluetooth calling alone is not enough for Bluetooth media output.
If your BMW has no factory Bluetooth Media, use AUX. If neither option is available or functioning, contact us before ordering.
Can I make phone calls through the screen?
Yes. Calls are supported through CarPlay, Android Auto and the Android Bluetooth system.
Every configuration has a built-in screen microphone. Gold-Spec and Platinum-Spec additionally include an external microphone.
The original BMW microphone is not used as the active CarPlay / Android Auto microphone.
Can I add a reversing camera?
Yes. A compatible aftermarket HD reversing camera can be connected and displayed directly on the new screen.

Compatible front-camera and AHD camera solutions can also be supported.
Does it support TPMS, OBD II or ADAS DVR?
Yes. Compatible optional accessories can include:
- TPMS tire-pressure monitoring

- ADAS DVR camera functionality
These accessories are not included unless specifically selected or purchased separately.
